Christ Church CE Primary School CarnfortH

On a beautiful day we went for a trip to Morecambe

Christ Church is a very friendly primary school in the heart of Carnforth. Oak Class participated in Morecambe Bay Lives as part of their Morecambe topic.

Carnforth is a bustling town 5 miles north of Morecambe. It is linked to Bolton-le-Sands and Lancaster via the Lancaster Canal. The platform scenes in the iconic British film, ‘Brief Encounter’ were filmed at Carnforth Railway Station and its visitor centre has a display all about the film.

The pupils enjoyed a tour of the Morecambe Winter Gardens. Many of the greats of British entertainment had performed at this theatre between 1897 and 1977.

The pupils took photographs of the Midland Hotel which is a  beautifully restored Art Deco building on Morecambe's sea front.

memory share: The pupils invited visitors into school to ask them about their memories of Carnforth and Morecambe.

Here is a short extract.

Oak class shared with pupils and parents at a school assembly what they had learnt. they also showed the paintings of Morecambe they had created with artist Chas Jacobs.
