At the heart of the village is Cartmel CE Primary School - a school with a real sense of community. The pupils who attend this very friendly primary school come from all across the Cartmel Peninsula.

PUPILS TALK ABOUT CARTMEL - Unknown Artist

Cartmel is a beautiful village centred around a spectacular 12th century priory. Just over 2 miles from the coastline, monks from the Priory once used to guide people across the treacherous sands of Morecambe Bay.

Video Class 2 took Emma Aylett for a tour of their village, on the way they interviewed Rev Nick Devenish from Cartmel Priory and Peter Unsworth from Unsworth's Yard Brewery. It was a glorious day and the pupils took lots of photographs.

Recordings The class invited some older members of the community in for tea and biscuits and for a chat about their local memories. Here is what the pupils thought about the experience and an interview with local resident Mrs Unsworth.
